Dell XPS 15

The OLED panel on this laptop is the most beautiful display I've used on any device. True blacks, vivid colors, and the 3.5K resolution makes text razor-sharp. I use it for Lightroom photo editing and the color accuracy is outstanding. The trade-off is battery life — I get 5 hours realistically, which means I carry my charger everywhere. The bottom webcam is also embarrassing in Zoom meetings; I bought an external one immediately. Great laptop with clear compromises.

I bought this for video editing in Premiere Pro and I'm deeply disappointed. It starts strong — first 10 minutes of rendering feel great. Then thermal throttling kicks in and performance drops by 25-30%. A render that should take 20 minutes takes 30. The bottom gets so hot it's uncomfortable on my lap. The fan noise is constant and loud during any intensive task. Dell prioritized thinness over actual usability. If you do anything beyond web browsing and Office, the thermals are a deal-breaker.

For business productivity — Office, web browsing, Zoom calls, light Photoshop — the XPS 15 is the best Windows laptop available. The build quality matches Apple, the keyboard is satisfying, and the trackpad is finally as good as a MacBook's. I went with the FHD+ panel for better battery life and I get about 10 hours of real work. A year in with zero issues. The thermal complaints are valid for heavy workloads, but for everyday professional use, this laptop is flawless.
