Recurring Issues

Common problems reported by multiple verified buyers

PCM Cover Cold Sensation

36 mentions

The Phase Change Material cover is noticeably cool to the touch — more than most mattresses. In summer this is a key selling point. In winter, cold sleepers and those in cooler climates find it makes the surface feel uncomfortably cold for the first few minutes of getting into bed.

Soft Version Support for Heavy Sleepers

24 mentions

The Soft firmness variant of the Aurora Luxe may not provide adequate support for back and stomach sleepers above 230 lbs. Multiple buyers in this category have exchanged to the Medium or Firm version.

Less Brand Awareness

17 mentions

Brooklyn Bedding's direct-to-consumer model means less retail presence and brand recognition. Multiple reviewers mention difficulty finding independent reviews before purchase and uncertainty about customer service quality.

First mattress in 5 years that hasn't left me sweating

Verified
By George T.Owned 8 monthsintermediate user2025-10-17

Pros

  • +PCM cover is genuinely cool — not placebo
  • +Sleep through the night without overheating
  • +Firmness options meant I could choose right

Cons

  • -PCM felt weirdly cold first week
  • -Less brand recognition made me nervous at first

I am a very warm sleeper. I've tried Casper, Leesa, Purple, and two Tempur-Pedics. All left me waking up sweating within the first month. The Aurora Luxe is different. The PCM cover feels noticeably cool when you first get in — slightly startlingly so the first week. But then it works: it maintains a comfortable surface temperature all night. Eight months in and I have not woken up sweating once. I chose Medium firmness which works perfectly for my side sleeping. Worth every dollar.

Great value alternative to the famous brands

Pros

  • +Quality rivals Casper and Helix at lower price
  • +Three firmness options is a huge plus
  • +120-night trial gave me confidence

Cons

  • -Soft option slightly less supportive than I needed
  • -Exchanged to Medium — process was smooth but took 10 days

I've compared mattresses obsessively for 6 years. The Aurora Luxe delivers comparable quality to Casper Original and Helix at $200-$400 less. I initially chose Soft, found it slightly too plush for my needs, and exchanged for Medium under the trial period. The exchange process was straightforward though it took 10 days. Medium is excellent — good support, noticeable cooling, and the CopperFlex foam feels genuinely different from standard memory foam. Brooklyn Bedding deserves more recognition.

The PCM cover is too cold for my wife in winter

Declared
By James and Karen O.Owned 6 monthsbeginner user2026-01-31

Pros

  • +Great cooling for me in summer
  • +Good support and comfort overall
  • +Long trial period

Cons

  • -Wife finds the cover too cold in winter
  • -She now sleeps with extra layer on her side

For me (a warm sleeper), this mattress is excellent — comfortable, well-supported, and the cooling keeps me from overheating. My wife is the opposite — she runs cold and in winter the PCM cover makes her side of the bed feel uncomfortable to get into. She now keeps a lightweight throw at the foot of the bed just for her side. In summer she's more neutral about it. The mattress itself is high quality; just make sure both people in your household are on the warm side before choosing this.
